Just over a year into its existence, the Bemidji Boxing Club is preparing to host its first major event with the upcoming Minnesota State Silver Gloves Tournament on July 24 and 25 at the Bemidji High School Fieldhouse.
The event will feature boxers ranging from ages 8-16, with more than 30 bouts scheduled for Saturday’s opening day. There will also be a select number of adult Golden Gloves bouts that were rescheduled from last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Doors will open at 2pm on Saturday and noon on Sunday, with matches to begin at 3pm and 1pm on the respective days.
Bemidji Boxing Club owner and manager Joe Lorenzi spoke about the origins of the club and provided details about this weekend’s event on Tuesday’s edition of High Noon.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door the day of the event. Advance tickets can be purchased at bemidjiboxingclub.com.
