Bemidji high school senior Sophia Morin officially signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday ahead of joining the Lawrence University women’s soccer team in Appleton, WI next year.
Morin capped a two-year run with Bemidji’s varsity team by scoring seven goals and providing a team-best nine assists–including a memorable flipped throw-in assist to Peyton Oelrich during the Lumberjacks’ 3-0 victory against East Grand Forks in a Section 8A quarterfinal in the fall. The senior winger’s efforts helped Bemidji to a Section 8A runner-up finish.
During her junior season, Morin provided two goals and four assists in helping Bemidji to capture a third-straight Section 8A title in girls soccer. Morin also assisted the Lumberjacks’ first-ever State tournament goal, which was scored by Lexi Paquette in a 4-1 loss to Mahtomedi in 2019.
The Vikings compete in the NCAA Division III’s Midwest Conference and went 9-10 in their most recently completed season in the fall of 2019.
