BEAVER WEEKEND RECAP: Womens Hockey, Mens & Womens Basketball, Softball, Track

The 18th ranked BSU Mens Hockey Team had the weekend off, but several other teams were in action, including the season opener for the softball team, thanks to the dome at Minot State.

FRI…#4 Minnesota  4, Bemidji State  1
After a scoreless first period, the Gophers scored in the second to take a 1-0 lead into the third. They added another before Lydia Passolt scored for Bemidji to make it 2-1. The Gophers added another two to earn the win. The Beavers were outshot 38-16 and Lauren Bench made 34 saves.

SAT…#4 Minnesota  6, Bemidji State  3
The Beavers and Gophers exchanged goals through the first two periods and the two teams went into the third period tied at 3, but the Gophers got three uanswered goals in the third to sweep the weekend series. The final goal was an empty netter. For the Beavers, Reece Hunt got the hat trick, while Clair DeGeorge and Haley Mack had two assists each.

The Beavers are 14-15-3 on the year and are 8-12-2 in the WCHA. They’ll be back at it Friday and Saturday at St. Cloud State.


FRI…Women…Concordia-St. Paul  75, Bemidji State  61
Brooklyn Bachmann had a Double-Double with 15 points and 10 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to bring down the Golden Bears at their place. Trinity Myer had 14 points, while Taylor Bray had 11.

FRI…Men…Bemidji State  84, Concordia-St. Paul  76
Logan Bader had 11 points and 7 rebounds and that had him hitting a couple of big benchmarks…1,000 points and 600 rebounds. He now has 603 rebounds and is fifth all time at BSU. Max Bjorklund had a big night with 33 points, while Ja Morgan scored 15 off the bench. Derek Thompson had a Double-Double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

SAT…Women…Minnesota State  84, Bemidji State  62
The Beavers took a two point lead into the second half, but were outscored 28-10 in the third quarter. Claire Wolhowe scored 17 points while Trinity Myer had 14 points. Molly Wenner added 12 points.

SAT…Men…Minnesota State  87, Bemidji  60
The Beavers were down by nine at the half and Mankato added another 18 to their lead in the second half. Derek Thompson scored 15 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Logan Bader added 13 points.

The Beaver men are 10-12 on the year and 7-11 in the NSIC. The Women’s team is 7-15 and 4-14 in conference. The women have lost seven in a row. The teams will be on the road Friday and Saturday at U-Mary and Minot State.


The Bemidji State Womens Track and Field Team competed at the Husker Invite at Nebraska and the Lake Superior Challenge. They earned four titles at the Lake Superior Challenge and between the two meets, earned 19 personal records and 21 top five finishes. The titles came from Faith Beck in the 60 Hurdles, Cheri’A Adams in the Long Jump, and Zoe Christensen who won the Weight Throw and Shot Put and hit NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both. She also set a personal record in the shot put.

Elaina Christiansen went 2 for 4 and homered, Sami Dullum doubled and Emmarie Yeager drove in two runs.

SAT…UMC  9, Bemidji State  0
Elaina Christiansen went 2 for 3 but the Beavers were held to 4 hits.

SUN…Bemidji State  4, Black Hills State  1
Steph Dullum was 2 for 2 with a double, while Sami Dullum also doubled. Olivia Tucker went 3 for 3 with a double as well.

The Beavers are 1-2 and will be back in action Friday and Saturday with four games at the Husky Dome at St. Cloud State.


SAT…Sioux Falls  6, Bemidji State  1
Laney Rutkowski earned the Beavers only win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

SUN…Augustana  7, Bemidji State  0

The Beavers are back on the road to Bismarck this weekend. They’ll face Minnesota State-Mooorhead at 5pm Satuday and the host team, U-Mary at 9am Sunday.
