A perfect start to the new season continued for Bemidji girls tennis with a 6-1 victory at St. Cloud Tech on Thursday afternoon, moving the Lumberjacks to 4-0 this season.
Emily Dondelinger picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win in the #2 singles slot, while Tatum Offerdahl stayed perfect this season with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at #3. Margie Anderson also made it four victories out of four to start the year, winning #4 singles 7-5, 6-1.
All three doubles matches went to the Lumberjacks, led by the top tandem of Nettie Kimble and Lexi Leitner’s 6-0, 6-2 success. Chloe Hasbargen and Paige Anderson rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win in the number two match, while the #3 team of Abby Johnson and Mollie Rupp rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory.
Number one singles player Savannah Haugen faced a major test against defending Section 8AA singles champion Ashley Tarrolly. The Tigers’ number one downed Haugen 2-6, 3-6, but it would prove to be Tech’s lone point of the day.
Bemidji improves to 4-0 with the victory and has lost just three matches out of the 28 played to this point in the season. The Lumberjacks will next play at home against Willmar next Thursday.
