Bemidji State Sports Weekend: Men’s & Women’s Hockey, Women’s Basketball Go 5-0

The Bemidji State Beavers went 5-0 this weekend, with the Men’s & Women’s Hockey teams sweeping WCHA opponents.

BEAVER MEN’S HOCKEY

FRI…Bemidji State  5, Alabama-Huntsville  3

Huntsville took a 1-0 lead less than 3 minutes into the game, but the Beavers scored the next 4, with a pair of power play goals in the 1st and 2 more in the 2nd. Bemidji State outshot the Chargers 34-17. Alex Adams had 2 goals and an assist, while Tommy Muck had a goal and an assist. Adam Brady had a goal and 2 assists and Tyler Kirkup had a goal.

SAT…Bemidji State  7, Alabama-Huntsville  0

The Beavers scored early in the 1st , then added 4 goals in the 2nd and 2 more in the 3rd. Elias Rosen had a 3 point night with a goal and 2 assists. Nick Cardelli had 2 goals, while Aaron Miller had a pair of goals and assist. Owen Sillinger and Hampus Sjodahl also scored. Sjodahl also had an assist. Ethan Somoza had 2 assists, as did Alex Adams. The Beavers outshot the Chargers 35-23 and Zach Driscoll went 23 for 23 in goal for the shutout.

The Beavers are now 6-4-2 on the year and are 6-2-0-0 in the WCHA. They’ll head to Sault Ste. Marie to take on Lake Superior State this Friday and Saturday.

 

BEAVER WOMEN’S HOCKEY

FRI…Bemidji State  1, MN-Mankato  0

The Beavers got the game’s only goal 50 seconds into the 2nd period. Lydia Passolt scored on a Clair DeGeorge feed. Shots were 30-28 and Lauren Bench was 30 of 30 for the shutout.

SAT…Bemidji State  5, MN-Mankato  2

Heather Olson had a goal and an assist, while Lydia Passolt had one of each. Paige Beebe scored and Kiki Radke had 2 goals and 2 assists. Tina Kampa had 2 assists. Shots were 22 apiece.

The Beavers are now 5-8-1 on the year and 4-6-0-0 in the WCHA. They’ll wrap up their road trip in New York this weekend, facing RPI in Troy.

 

BEAVER WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Bemidji State  76, Mayville State  60

Trinity Myer led the Beavers with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Taylor Bray added 16 points and 5 boards.

The Beavers are 3-1 on the year and will be back at it Saturday in a 2pm game at UMC.
