It’s been a busy year for the United Way of the Bemidji Area. Covid-19 has had them creating an emergency fund, working with their agencies as community members have been in greater need than ever. In addition, they created the Covid Caravan and now the First Ever Lueken’s Village Foods United Way Fishing Tournament, also sponsored by Coca Cola of Bemidji and Fishin’ Paul Bunyan Country.
This unique event will go for three days (Friday, July 24th through Sunday July 26th), and you’ll be able to fish any lake in Beltrami, Hubbard or Clearwater County. It’s a two species event, with anglers weighing in their top five walleyes and top five bass. The cost is $200 per two person team. First prize is $3,000 for each division (based on 100 boats), with prizes through the top nine spots. In addition, you can fish in both divisions, and potentially win both divisions.
The event will feature a Virtual Rules Meeting and will be run through the Fish Donkey App. Anglers will need to download the app (it’s free) and can register on the app. Anglers will catch, take a photo, then release the fish. The App keeps tabs on everything, including whether the fish was caught in legal waters. Competitors will be able to continually keep up with the leaderboard.
