Several local Section football playoff games have been altered by forfeits from teams as schools continue to be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Three of the forfeits have come from 9-Man’s Section 6, including #3 Nevis pulling out of its quarterfinal game against #6 Park Christian that had been moved to Moorhead tonight.
#8 Sebeka has also forfeited its quarterfinal against #1 Win-E-Mac, while #5 NCE/U-H stepped out of its quarterfinal matchup with #4 Blackduck. The Patriots and Drakes will now advance into a semifinal on Saturday at 2pm in Erskine.
#7 Clearbrook-Gonvick’s quarterfinal at #2 Fertile-Beltrami is still on schedule for tonight at 7pm, with the winner to face Park Christian on Saturday.
Outside of the local scene, Lake of the Woods has forfeited its Section 8 9-Man quarterfinal against Stephen-Argyle Central, who will now move into the semifinals on Saturday.
Section 8AAA has also seen three forfeits occur, with Roseau dropping out of its game with Pequot Lakes, Fergus Falls exiting a quarterfinal with East Grand Forks, and a forfeit from Thief River Falls prior to the seeding date. Park Rapids’ quarterfinal at Perham is still scheduled for tonight at 6pm.
