Jacks Fall In Season Opener Despite Strong First

Despite a strong opening period, the Lumberjack Boys Hockey Team lost in Coach Pete Stahnke’s debut, falling 5-1 to the Rochester Century Panthers.

Bemidji dominated the 1st period, scoring early on a Connor Savard goal and continuing to put the pressure on. But The Jacks couldn’t get that 2nd goal and Century tied it up with :02 left in the period and that seemed to change momentum. Late in the 2nd, the Panthers put up 3 goals in a 3 minute span to go up 4-1 and they added a 5th in the 3rd. The Jacks were outshot 31-26 on the night. The Jacks had a 5 minute power play but instead gave up a short handed goal and went 0 for 3 on power play opportunities in the 3rd.

The 0-1 Jacks head to Warroad Tuesday night for a 7pm game.  You’ll hear it on the LRN beginning with LJ Live at 6:45 on The BUN SportsRadio 104.5 and online HERE.
