The Lumberjack Girls Basketball team had a long weekend, losing decisively to a pair of top five teams and defending section champions in #3 ranked Fergus Falls and #5 Becker.
On Saturday, the Jacks traveled to Perham for the Beakdown Crossover Classic to face The Becker Bulldogs, #5 in Class AAA and state runnersup to De La Salle last year. They showed why, dominating the Lumberjacks from the outset. Bemidji was down by 27 at the half and ended up losing by 42. Only Emily Wade hit double figures for Bemidji, finishing with 14 points.
With their 3rd straight loss, The Jacks fall to 8-4 and will look to turn it around Tuesday night in Little Falls against the Flyers. Gametime is 7:15.
Last year, the Fergus Falls Otters won the Section 8AAA championship, knocking off the Jacks on their way to the title. This year, the Otters have fallen to Class AA, but they’re still a major power, and put it on display Friday night at the Bemidji High School Fieldhouse. The #3 ranked Otters won their 10th straight game by opening up a 17 point halftime lead. The Jacks played a much closer 2nd half, but were still outscored by 4. Emily Wade was the only Jack to hit double figures with 11.
