The Lumberjack Wrestlers were well rested. The Rogers Invitational was snowed out last weekend and Bemidji looked hungry and fresh as they rolled over Little Falls, Annandale/Moose Lake and Sauk Rapids-Rice.
Bemidji 52, Little Falls 25
The Jacks dropped the first two matches, but overall won nine including the final four. JD Kondos earned a 53 second pin at 120 pounds. Coy Olson got a 16-0 Tech Fall win at 126 and Joe Hudson earned a pin 45 seconds into his match at 138 pounds. At 160, Darren Roth got a Tech Fall while Clay Olson got a pin at 182. At 220, Caleb Bahr earned a pin and the Jacks got three forfeit wins.
Bemidji 47, Annandale-Maple Lake 22
The Jacks lost 4 of the first 5 matches, but closed winning 8 of the final 9. Coy Olson got Bemidji’s first win with a 7-6 decision at 126 pounds. At 138, Joe Hudson began a five match streak with a pin 1:12 into the match. At 145, Thade Osborn earned a 5-0 decision, Seth Newby got a forfeit win at 152, Darren Roth got a 16-0 Tech Fall win at 160, and at 170, Colton Hinrichs earned a pin. The to wrap up, Justin Nelson, Caleb Bahr and Chase Smith all earned pins.
Bemidji 59, Sauk Rapids-Rice 16
The Lumberjacks won 11 of the 14 matches, including the last nine straight. Brody Castonguay earned a pin at 113 for the Jacks as did JD Kondos at 120. The Jacks then got four pins in a row from Joe Hudson at 138, Dane Jorgenson at 145, Gavin Osborn at 152 (in 44 seconds) and Seth Newby (in 30 seconds) at 160. Aidan Helwig got a 5-0 decision at 170 pounds and at 182, Clay Olsen earned a 9-1 major decision. At 195, Justin Nelson won by forfeit and Caleb Bahr earned a pin at 220. At 285, Chase Smith wrapped things up with an 11-2 major decision.
The Jacks are now an impressive 12-2 in duals and will have another two Thursday when they host Sartell-St. Stephen at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in a triangular Thursday at the BHS Fieldhouse. Then it’s a huge weekend as the Jacks host the 16 team Rick Lee Duals Friday and Saturday. You’ll hear all Lumberjack matches on the LRN.
