Both Bemidji girls and boys soccer will be on the road for their quarterfinal playoff matches in the new Section 8AAA, scheduled for this Wednesday in the girls bracket and on Thursday in the boys field.
The girls (7-6-2) tumbled to the #7 seed in the Section 8AAA coaches’ vote. Both the Lumberjacks and #6 Sartell-St. Stephen (8-5-2) finished below St. Michael-Albertville and Buffalo–teams that were lower in the final QRF numbers, finished with a record below .500 and, in Buffalo’s case, had not won a Section game while winning just three games.
The Lumberjacks drew #2 Brainerd (11-1-3) for a quarterfinal game that will take place Wednesday evening at Brainerd beginning at 7pm. The Warriors defeated Bemidji 5-1 on Sep. 25 in their only regular season meeting.
The Bemidji boys (4-9-2) secured the #6 seed for the Section 8AAA playoffs, finishing in line with their final QRF ranking in the section as well. After performing better on the road during the regular season with a mark of 3-3-2, Bemidji will travel to face #3 Rogers (10-6), who concluded their regular season with a 4-1 rout of Brainerd on the road Saturday.
Kickoff for the Thursday quarterfinal will be at 7pm from Rogers High School. Both the Bemidji girls and boys games will be broadcasted on the Lumberjack Radio Network with pregame beginning at 6:40 both evenings on KBUN-FM 104.5 and Lumberjacks1 at kbunsportsradio.com.
