Morin Double Rallies Bemidji Girls To Another Comeback Victory

A brace of goals from Sofia Morin in the second half–including the winner with just four minutes remaining–helped Bemidji girls soccer overturn a 1-0 halftime deficit for a 2-1 victory over St. Cloud Tech on Thursday evening in St. Cloud.

Just as they saw happen on Tuesday against St. Cloud Apollo, the Lumberjacks went behind on the opening goal of the game in the 36th minute as Tech carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Bemidji’s answer came swiftly in the second half. Lauren Berg’s cross from the right found Morin arriving at the top of the 18-yard box, where the senior swiveled and fired a low strike to the bottom corner to bring the Lumberjacks level at 1-1.

Morin’s second came late in the 76th minute after winning a short punt from the Tech goalkeeper and racing past two defenders for another low finish to the corner.

The Lumberjacks open the new season 2-0 for a maximum six points in the Central Lakes Conference standings, and will now have a bye before hosting Willmar at Chet Anderson Stadium next Thursday at 7pm. That match can be heard on KBUN-FM 104.5 and
