A pair of Bemidji High School teams received their seeds for the upcoming Section playoffs on Wednesday morning. Bemidji girls hockey has been seeded #8 for the Section 8AA tournament, while Bemidji wrestling will defend its Section 8AAA crown from last season as the #2 seed.
After finishing its 10-15 regular season with a 2-1 loss on the road at Crookston last night, the Lumberjack girls hockey team received the #8 seed in the 8AA coaches’ vote. The Jacks will travel to Roseau to face the top-seeded Rams at the Rams Sports Center on Saturday at 5pm. This is the third-straight season Bemidji has been paired with Roseau in the opening round after the Lumberjacks lost 4-1 in 2018 and 6-0 last year.
The Lumberjack Radio Network will broadcast Saturday’s game, with pregame at 4:45 on KBUN-FM 104.5 and KBUN1 online. The broadcast will also be simulcasted on WILD 102 in Roseau.
Bemidji wrestling has followed up last year’s Section 8AAA title with another tremendous season, as the Lumberjacks are currently 24-5 in duals this season. An early-season loss to Willmar in a rematch of last year’s Section title match meant Bemidji was firmly entrenched as the #2 seed behind the Cardinals in the 8AAA coaches’ vote.
The new format of this year’s section playoffs means Bemidji will host in the quarterfinal round against #7 Sauk Rapids-Rice next Wednesday at the Bemidji High School Fieldhouse. The match is tentatively slated for 7pm and will be broadcasted on the Lumberjack Radio Network beginning at 6:45 on KBUN-FM 104.5 and KBUN1 online. The semifinal and final rounds of the Section 8AAA team meet will be held at Sauk Rapids-Rice next Friday evening.
The Jacks’ final match of the regular season will be this Friday at home and will be broadcasted on KBUN AM1450/fm94.9 and KBUN2 online.
